In short the basic sacred geometric shapes are: triangle, square, circle, spiral, and straight line. Furthermore the more complex shapes are: cross, flower of life, pyramid, star of David, Merkabah.

The geometry used in the design and construction of religious structures such as churches, temples, mosques, religious monuments, altars, and tabernacles has sometimes been considered sacred. Designers are also inspired by nature, which is full of simple shapes.

The sacred geometry is among the oldest designs for tattoos, dating back to the days of the pharaohs in ancient Egypt.

Typical styles of sacred geometry tattoos:

  • Mandala- this shape is basically a circle contained in a square.
  • The flower of life- in its basic form, it comprises seven of more overlapping yet evenly spaced circles. When drawn out, it forms a flower-like pattern with the symmetrical structure of a hexagon.
